U.S. Leaf Lettuce Production Statistics (1993 - 1997)

Most of the leaf lettuce is grown in California (81%) and Arizona (17%). The total U.S. leaf lettuce crop in 1997 was harvested from 42,330 acres and yielded 9,241,000 cwt (average yield = 218 cwt/acre), with a total value of $244,841,000. In 1997, production was up about 0.9% from 1996.

The following data shows production (cwt), harvested acres, yield (cwt/acre) and total value ($) of the fresh market leaf lettuce crop for the major leaf lettuce producing states for the period 1993 to 1997.
