U.S. Asparagus Production Statistics (1993 - 1998)

Leading producers of asparagus (fresh + processed) in the U.S. in 1998 were California, Washington, Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois. Asparagus was harvested from 73,370 acres in the U.S. in 1998, with a total yield of 1,995,000 cwt (average yield = 27 cwt/acre), and a total value of $207,895,000. In 1998, U.S. production (cwt) of asparagus was down about 1.5% from 1997.

The following data shows production (cwt) [note that cwt = hundred weight], harvested acres, yield (cwt/acre) and total value ($) of the asparagus (fresh + processed) crop for the major asparagus producing states for the period 1993 to 1998.
