S-Methylmethionine (SMM)

AdoMet: methionine S-methyltransferase [EC 2.1.1.12]

AdoMet (SAM) + methionine ---> S-methylmethionine (SMM) + AdoHcy

S-Methyl-L-methionine: homocysteine S-methyltransferase [EC 2.1.1.10]

S-methylmethionine (SMM) + homocysteine ---> 2 methionine + H+

S-Methyl-L-methionine hydrolase [EC 3.3.1.2]

S-methylmethionine (SMM) + H2O ---> (CH3)2S + homoserine + H+
