Leading producers of asparagus (fresh + processed) in the U.S. in 1998 were California, Washington, Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois. Asparagus was harvested from 73,370 acres in the U.S. in 1998, with a total yield of 1,995,000 cwt (average yield = 27
cwt/acre), and a total value of $207,895,000. In 1998, U.S. production (cwt) of asparagus was down about 1.5% from 1997.
