VALERIANACEAE

Patrinia palmatum, Maxim. China: leaves eaten with oil and salt. Vernacular name: Palmate Valerian. Ref. READ.

Valeriana amurensis, Smirn. ex Kom. Manchuria: leaves eaten. Ref. BARANOV.

Valerianella discoides, Loisel. Tunisia: leaves of the young plant are eaten raw, with bread and salt; sometimes in soup but rarely in salads. The leaves are reported to have a strongly bitter taste. Vernacular names - Arabic: Djemir, Khedana, Harra (Tunis), Héliouat (Gabes). Berber: Thioiunas, Ibrat-n-tekouk. Ref. BOUQUET.

Valerianella olitoria, Pollich. Tunisia: as for Valerianella discoides. Ref. BOUQUET.
