Hippophæ rhamnoides, L. India (Garhwal Himalayas): fruit made into preserves, and pickled. Chemical composition: rich in Vitamins B1, B2, C, E, and K, niacinimide, pantothenic acid and carotenoids. Ethnomedical uses: in Tibet, used as a general panacæa; oil is antioxidant and may be used to treat wounds and frost bite and alimentary canal mucus problems.
