Boswellia serrata, Roxb. ex Colebr. India: flowers and seeds eaten by the Bhils. Fruits prepared into soup by the Uriyas. Ref. WATT.

Commiphora spp. Kenya (Mbeere division, Embu district): leaves eaten. Vernacular name mu -Cegethiu. [N.B. see comment in Ref. regarding species identification.] Ref. RILEY & BROKENSHA.

Commiphora africana (A. Rich.) Engl. Nigeria (Kano State, northern): unspecified part of plant eaten. Vernacular names - Hausa: Dashi. Kanuri: Kabi. Ref. MORTIMORE.

Commiphora cærula, B.D. Bartt. Central Tanzania: young roots chewed for juices. Vernacular name - Sandawe: Wému. Ref. NEWMAN.

Commiphora neglecta, Verdoorn. Kenya (Mbeere division, Embu district): leaves and roots eaten. Root bark is peeled off; root compared to chewing sugar cane. Vernacular name - Kikuyu: mu-Kerenju. Ref. RILEY & BROKENSHA.

Garuga pinnata, Roxb. India: leaves and fruits eaten. Vernacular name - Mandvi, Surat region, Bombay Presidency: Kaked. Ref. GAMMIE.
