The Purdue Horticulture Club meet on January 31, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.
in room 117. The foragers provided us with chicken strips, coleslaw, and cookies. Kristi Sheldon, treasurer, reported that the club currently has $8,390. Old and New business was discussed.
For old business we talked about the rose sale. A sign up sheet was passed around for anyone that could help during the sale. Rose dethorning will be on February 13. An e-mail will be sent with more information. Also the Hort. 491 class has been busy in the greenhouse, if anyone would like to see the progress of our plants for spring fest they are in zone 20. A sign up sheet was passed around for members to give us their church contact to sell Easter lilies. If anyone would attends church in the area and thinks they would be interested in purchasing Easter lilies let Elaine or Jess know. For new business we talked about Ag council. They will be having a pancake supper and bonfire on April 18th in the Ag mall from 10 pm until 2 am if anyone is interested. They are also putting together the Ag Olympics which will be held on March 31st so keep that in mind if you are interested. We also discussed the idea of participating in the Grand Alternative; we will be coming up with some ideas at the next meeting if everyone is interested. The club also started a discount card fundraiser. The cards were passed out and if anyone needs more they should contact Mark. The club voted on the theme for the Hort. show. This year’s theme will be Plant Paradise.
The next meeting will be February 13th at 7 pm. We will be dethorning roses and having a carry in taco bar.
