How can I build an Arbor or Fence?
You don’t have to be a carpenter to build a nice looking wood features for your landscape. An arbor or fence can be simple to build. The arbor featured in our landscape has four 7 foot tall 4x4 pieces of lumber to create the legs of it. Then we used four 5 foot 2x4 pieces of lumber to create the sides. Some pieces of wood were used to create a top piece for the arbor to add some look to it. Then we used some lattice wood sheets to create the sides and top skirting. Then we added some white paint to give it a great touch. Our fences are made of some pressed lumber used mainly for trailer beds and pallets. You could go to a hardware store and pick up some 2x4s to use for a fence, or if you have some lumber lying around, you can be creative and build a fence easily out of that. We used two 5 foot long pieces of wood on the sides to create the legs of the fence. Then we added two back braces cut to out desired length. The pieces in between the fence are cut to four feet and line up to the top of the five foot tall legs. If you have a jig saw or a rotary tool, you can add your own design to the top of your fence posts to add that special look, like are spiked tips on our fence. Then you can add some paint, or a stain of your choice to make your fence match with your landscape.
