RESEARCH IN PROGRESS

Public Markets in America

I have reduced my initial list of 27 Public Markets and have established 12 specific markets for further in-depth study in 1992-93. I am beginning to document their physical location, shape and design as well as the public spaces and neighborhoods they have helped to created. Many are significant community amenities to the neighborhoods they occupy.

  1. Quincy Market - Boston, MA
  2. The French Market - New Orleans, LA
  3. Reading Terminal Market - Philadelphia, PA
  4. The Charleston City Market - Charleston, SC
  5. The Westside Market - Cleveland, OH
  6. The North Market - Columbus, OH
  7. Indianapolis City Market - Indianapolis, IN
  8. The Soulard Farmers Market, St. Louis, MO
  9. Pike Place Market - Seattle, WA
  10. Eastern Market - Washington, D.C.
  11. Findley Market - Cincinnati, OH
  12. Harrisburg Central Market - Harrisburg, PA
