Jim Simon and Mario Morales received $6,000 from Quality Botanical Ingredients, Inc. to support a project entitled "Studies on Seed Germination for Echinacea spp., a medicinal plant".

Bernie Dahl received $2,000 from US Aggregates, Inc. for support of the project entitled "Mine Reclamation".

Diana Lange received variety trial funding from: Donlar Corporation, $200; De Fruiter Seeds, Inc., $100; John C. Vandiepen, $400; Seminis Vegetable Seeds, Inc., $1,500; American Sunmelon, $500; Willhite Seed Company, $150; and Miller Chemical & Fertilizer Corporation, $100.

Liz Maynard and Jim Simon received variety trial funding from: Johnny's Selected Seeds, $200 and Crookham Company, $375.

Ed Ashworth received $2,500 from Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association, Inc. to support the project entitled "Peach Tree and Bud Hardiness".

Mike Hasegawa was in Osaka/Hyote/Nara/Kobe, Japan June 2-8 to participate in a workshop on Metabolic Engineering of Plants and visit Kobe University.

Diana Lange was in Columbus, OH June 3-6 to attend the 5th National Stand Establishment Symposium and interact in discussion with vegetable specialists from surrounding states.

Bonnie McClain was in Colorado Springs and Ft. Collins, CO June 2-6 to attend meetings with NASA Education and Outreach group.

Greg Pierceall and 23 students were in Manhattan, KS May 18-31 to attend the Mike Lin Graphic Workshop.

Avtar Handa will be in Pune, India June 8-August 1 to present seminars and discuss research collaboration with scientists in Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Dehli), International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (Dehli), and Pune University (Pune).

Bruno Moser was in Krakow, Lubin, Poznan, and Warsaw, Poland May 30-June 16 to meet with Horticulture faculty at Agricultural Universities of Krakow, Poznan, and Warsaw, and with ODR farm advisors from Lubin, regarding American Association of Nurserymen tour of Poland.

Erik Gerdes was in Chicago, IL June 3 to attend a Database Solutions Seminar.

STUDENT DATES AND DEADLINES

June 13, 1997 - Last day to submit a positive Report of the Final Examination to register for "degree only". (A Thesis Receipt must be submitted by 7/11/97.)

June 13, 1997 - Last day for a plan of study to be received by the Graduate School to graduate in August.

June 27, 1997 - Last day to declare candidacy for degree for August graduation.
