Congratulations to Jules Janick who received the B.Y. Morrison Medal and presented the Memorial Lecture at the American Horticultural Society meeting April 24, 1997. This award is presented each year by the USDA-ARS to recognize scientists who have made outstanding contributions to horticulture.
Randy Woodson has been appointed to a five-year term as an at-large member of the American Society for Horticultural Science William A. (Tex) Frazier Lecture Series Selection Committee.
Jules Janick received $14,000 in TRASK funds to support a project entitled "The New Crop Compendium".
Bernie Dahl received $500 from the Treasurer Newton County, Indiana to support LA projects.
Jules Janick received $300 from DowElanco to support research.
Allen Hammer received a $3,000 increase in a grant from Sepro Corporation to support his research.
Jim Simon received $200 from Botanical Products International in support of vegetable/fruit research.
Diana Lange received $2,800 from Harris Moran Seed Company in support of general research activities.
Cary Mitchell and Bonnie McClain received a $75,019 increase from NASA Washington in support of the project entitled "Biomass productivity and sustainability of bioregenerative life support systems".
David Rhodes received a $6,000 increase from the Office of Naval Research in support of the project entitled "Biosynthesis of 3-dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) in marine algae".
