GRANTS RECEIVED

Peter Goldsbrough received a 1997 PRF Research Grant in the amount of $11,666 for his proposal entitled "Metallothioneins, Phytochelatins, and Metal Tolerance in Plants".

Jim Simon received $200 from BPI, Inc. to support kavalactone research.

Randy Woodson received $5,000 from Yoder Brothers, Inc. for support of the project entitled "Value-Added Biotechnology".

Jim Simon received $10,000 from USDA to support the project entitled "Development of nondestructive sensing systems for quality control in grading, sorting, and shipping of fruits and vegetables".

Diana Lange has received a $400 increase from Asgrow Seed Company to support general research activities.

Bonnie McClain was in New Orleans, LA March 31-April 7 to staff the NASA Outreach Exhibit at the National Science Teachers Conference.

Lonni Davenport was in Indianapolis April 2 to attend the Alternative Ag Committee meeting.

Harrison Flint was in St. Louis, MO and Jacksonville, IL, April 3-5 on a HORT 527 field trip.

Peter Goldsbrough was in Canterbury, England April 6-9 to present a talk at the "Metals & Genes" Symposium at the annual meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology.

David Rhodes was in Washington, DC April 3-4 to give update of research to Office of Naval Research and to discuss USDA-NRICGP Plant Responses to the Environment Program.

STUDENT DATES AND DEADLINES

April 12 - Deadline for pending incomplete grades to become failing grades.

April 22 - Purdue Ag Senior Chili Supper. See Robin Tribbett for details and/or tickets.

April 26 - Last day for students to pass the final examination.

April 28 - Final examination reports must be received for all graduating students by the Graduate School, Room 170, YONG. Students for whom a final report is not received will not be able to graduate in May.
