Peter Hirst arrived January 1, 1997. Peter is the department's new Assistant Professor working in the area of pomology. His office is room 313, telephone 41323. If you haven't met him yet, stop by and get acquainted.
Student workers in the copy room this semester are Scott Kuckuck, Corri Washburn, and Aaron Stults. A copy of their work schedule is posted outside the copy room.
The cutover date for the new telephone system is March 8, 1997. Don't forget to see Marilyn VanHoosier to sign up for one of the training sessions.
Maria Coca Lopez joined Mike Hasegawa's lab January 1, 1997 as a visiting scholar. Maria is a member of the Instituto de Recurso Naturales y Agrobiologia in Spain and will be working in Mike's lab through December 31, 1998.
Ky Young Park has joined Randy Woodson's lab as a visiting scholar January 1, 1997 to December 31, 1997. Ky Young is an Assistant Professor at Sunchon National University in South Korea.
Roger Leafgren joined the department January 13, 1997 as a graduate student working with Steve Weller.
Bruce Bordelon and his colleagues in the Purdue Wine Grape Program have been selected to receive the 1997 Dean's Award for Team Contributions to Indiana Agriculture.
