Students in Bernie Dahl's Regional Design (LA 516) course have once again taken top awards in the National Stone Association/American Society of Landscape Architects (NSA/ASLA) Annual Student Competition. Jeff Brown, Andy Howard, and Jeff Shetterly took second place for their project titled "Jordan Creek Community: A Public/Private Paternership Providing Housing, Recreation, and Education". Susan Dieterlen and Tanya Nuest took third place for their project titled "Legacy Mounds: A Proposal for Mine Reclamation in Prophetstown State Park". The students will receive cash awards as will the Landscape Architecture Program.
Steve Weller received $70,000 from USDA for a project entitled "Evaluation of Composted Manure as a Growth and Delivery Susbstitute"
Mike Hasegawa and Ray Bressan received $60,000 from the Rockefeller Foundation for a project entitled "Sorghum Stem Borer and Root and Stalk Disease Resistance Through Genetic Transformation".
