Sessions will be held June 17-22, July 8-13, and July 15-20, 2001. Qualified participants will be selected on a first come, first-serve basis.
This week-long seminar will cover the following topics:
Two field trips are planned, one to look at how landscape architects have shaped the city environment, and one to see how landscape architects have helped to preserve and interpret the natural landscapes in our national and state parks. Visits will feature distinguished professionals talking about their work. Students will explore and sketch some of the most famous places and landscapes in Indiana.
Students will also be exposed to using computers to create designs and solve elementary problems. AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Pagemaker will be integrated into a hands-on design problem.
Two college credit hours will be offered to students who are or will be admitted
to Purdue in Pre-Landscape Architecture and successfully complete the seminar
requirements. These credit hours will be applied to LA 101 - Survey of Landscape
Architecture.
The Wolfe Landscape Architecture Discovery Scholarship is available to camp participants based on academic performance and financial need. The scholarship would cover room and board and tuition. Call to request the application form. These forms are due to the Horticulture Department by May 21, 2001.
The registration fee for the Landscape Architecture Summer Seminar is $500. This amount covers room and board and tuition for the one-week seminar. All supplies will be furnished. Because of the limited space, applicants are asked to send fees with the registration form to guarantee a place in the seminar.
Seminar participants will be housed and have their meals inWiley Hall, one of Purdue's finest residence halls. Student counselors will live with participants at the hall.
