FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

The Landscape Architecture Program in the Department of Horticulture
and Landscape Architecture at Purdue University, West Lafayette
campus, seeks to fill a ten-month, tenure track faculty position
available at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.
The Landscape Architecture Program at Purdue University is
a five-year professionally accredited undergraduate program
leading to a B.S.L.A. degree.
Duties. The successful candidate will
be expected to develop a program of innovative and engaging classroom
and studio teaching in fundamental aspects of landscape architecture.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate
courses in landscape architecture. Productive involvement in a program
of academic scholarship and/or creative endeavor in contemporary
issues and emerging practice is also expected. Participation in
the application and scholarship of community engagement and service
is desired. The individual also will be expected to be instrumental
in the development of an emerging graduate program. Intra- and interdisciplinary
collaborations are strongly encouraged and supported at Purdue University.
Qualifications. A terminal graduate degree
in the candidate’s primary field of expertise is required.
At least one degree held by the candidate must be in landscape architecture.
A Ph.D. in landscape architecture or a related field is desirable
as is notable record of professional and/or academic accomplishment
in landscape architecture or a related field.
Salary. Commensurate with professional
experience. The position is an academic year (10-month) appointment
with an excellent fringe benefits package that includes the TIAA-CREF
retirement program, medical, life, and disability insurance,
and sabbatical-leave opportunity.

begin April 1, 2008, although applications will be accepted until
the position is filled. The target date for filling the position
is August 2008 or sooner depending on the candidate’s availability.

of teaching philosophy and goals; a statement of the applicant’s
vision for academic scholarship and/or creative endeavor; relevant
examples of professional activity; names and contact information
