LA 166 Lecture Outline 4-16-07

Artful Landscapes and Art in the Landscape

Martha Schwartz

Early training was as an artist.

Martha as designer:

            Goals and Objectives:

                          Making the familiar unfamiliar

                          Transfiguring the commonplace

Jolting us out of a state of distraction,

                                    Causing us to be aware

To really notice the surrounding world.

She situates herself and her work within a modern framework

(where we become active participants in a creative realm.)
