HORT 301 - PLANT PHYSIOLOGY

Fall Semester 2009

Announcement(s):

ABSTRACTS ARE NOW POSTED

Independent Research Projects (HORT301, fall 2009)

SIGN-UP until Friday Nov. 6th at 10.30am (deadline)

1. Screen and identification of brassinosteroid-inhibitor independent mutants in maize
2. Drought resistance in twisted dwarf1 mutants of Arabidopsis
3. Growth regulation of sorghum plants using phytohormone biosynthesis inhibitors
4. Cell wall biosynthesis inhibitor resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana
5. Where is GTL1 gene expressed in plants? How does drought stress regulate GTL1 gene expression?
6. Characterization of gene expression in yellow and red tomato fruits
7. The effect of soil-less growing substrates on growth inhibitors efficacy
8. Stop and smell the petunias - floral scent as an indicator of plant metabolism
9. Role of increased apoplastic barrier on salt tolerance in Arabidopsis
10. Nickel resistance by enhanced suberin mutant (esb1) in Arabidopsis
11. Mutational spectrum in EMS-mutagenized brassica plants
12. Drought tolerance in the resurrection (rst1-1) mutant

Please sign up (the earlier the better!!) until Friday Nov 6th until 10.30am by sending an email to kvanveko@purdue.edu

You will receive a confirmation email from her to acknowledge your successful registration for your research project. The number of students per research project is limited and applicants from oversubscribed projects can be assigned other research projects.

Biotechnology Lab Data (GUS stained seedling images) is posted online under Data Biotechnology Lab.

The textbook "Plant Physiology 4th ed (Taiz, Zeiger)" is available at Follett's and University Bookstores!
