Instructor's Perspective

Interactive digital content and videos as teaching
tool in Plant Physiology not only help to explain difficult content
in simple ways but also motivate students to get involved in the
teaching and learning process. Ownership of the course and its
content development as well as source of positive attitude of
students towards the course is enhanced.
Paul Mike Hasegawa, Hort 301 Professor

Instructional videos add a different dimension to
the laboratory part of the course and make teaching these parts much easier. This need to be expanded to all lab experiments taught in our Plant Physiology labs.
Michael Van Oosten, Graduate Student TA

Instructional pod casts are a fantastic potential
tool for laboratory instruction. Having on-demand reference and
instructional videos at home before you attend class or in-hand
during the lab give students a wide array of resources.
Thomas Hartwig, Hort 301 Graduate Student TA

Unfortunately, some of the most sophisticated and
entertaining experiments are also very complex and time consuming to
explain. From my experience of teaching in HORT301 I found, that
using videos both shortens the necessary experimental introduction
process as well as greatly improving the learning success of the
students.
GunNam Na, Hort 301 Graduate Student TA

I believe that students better understand what they have
to learn and what they do not have to do during the lab experiment
when using the videos. This video teaching method is very useful not only
preventing undesired accidents in the lab, but also saving the time to explain
and to understand complex procedures of an experiment.
Michael Long, Hort 301 Graduate Student TA

The videos are very useful if they are optimized for
instruction of the step by step procedure of the experiments.
