Muskmelon - Fruit

Ripe muskmelon fruit is nearly round, tan to greenish-tan, and rough textured. The outer skin, or rind, looks like a network of intertwining veins. Muskmelon is grown for its sweet, fragrant orange-pink flesh. Muskmelons are often mistakenly called cantaloupes which is a different, tropical species.

An immature muskmelon is green with a smooth rind, and may have shallow grooves depending on the cultivar.
