International Master Gardener Committee Media Resource List The following is a media resource list for host committees of future International Master Gardener conferences. It focuses primarily on media outlets which may be interested in either listing the date for and brief information about a future conference or covering the actual conference itself. To date, this list includes only U.S. media outlets; as soon as we receive more information about Canadian outlets, we'll add that, also. We would appreciate suggestions for additional media outlets to be added. The media are grouped by type. Burton Jablin RADIO (return to top of page) On a larger scale, the same is true for radio shows. There are over 125 programs across the U.S. that cover gardening. As you can understand, they are too numerous to list here. A listing of these shows and other types of media outlets is available in the reference section of any public library. Hosts of these gardening shows may want to do an interview prior to a conference or broadcast live from the conference while it is in progress. NEWSPAPERS (return to top of page) The gardening editor or writer of local and area newspapers will most likely be interested in news re an International Master Gardener Conference in his or her local area. Another good print outlet for coverage is: MAGAZINES (return to top of page) Below are listed United States general, consumer gardening magazines which may be interested in listing the International Master Gardener Conference in their calendars of upcoming events. This is not an exhaustive list, only one containing those general, national outlets that may be interested in an IMG conference. There are regional gardening magazines that may cover news of this conference, also. Trade horticulture publications are not listed here since these, by definition, usually only cover news, events, new products, etc., relating to the nursery industry, not to master or amateur gardeners. WORLD WIDE WEB (return to top of page) The World Wide Web provides one of the very best sources for all types of horticulture information, including calendars of upcoming events. The following are a few sites that might be willing to list information about upcoming conferences. |
